Homemade frosting like Duncan Hines?

Hi fellows,

I guess, we all saw Lindsey´s ad for Duncan Hine´s product and she got her own receipes too.

I posted a link of Rosanna Pansino´s youtube channel at the fan group on facebook and maybe you watched some of her videos or knew the problem before.

To describe it shortly: in America, you can buy all these colorful and ready-to-use products, but in Germany we just have chocolate icing and no kind of frosting, I think.

I asked my mother, but she also doesn´t know a solution for that viscous frostings. She just showed me how to make this icing with lemon juice and powdered sugar. But that´s far away from real frosting.

So the question is: has anyone of you ever made such paste at home without such chemical ingredients? The ingredients wouldn´t matter to me but if I´d bake something for friends I should think about the vegetarians and those who dislike chemical taste.
